Champagne is a premier wine with a distinct lineage that has been meticulously preserved over the years that by law only sparkling wine from the designated Champagne region of France can bear the name champagne on the bottle. Additionally, there is a particular method to Champagne production that preserves the process and quality of product. In the world of wine, it is a pure strain. The quality of the grapes and the integrity of the process determine the quality. The ingredients are pure and simple yet yield such complex and sophisticated flavors. And in the world of champagne, Dom Perignon reigns supreme as the best of the best. For a connoisseur, the experience of Dom Perignon would be a long-awaited pursuit to be savored and cherished. Likewise, true masculinity is distinctive and rare, of a character above the run-of-the-mill, and should be preserved and protected from counterfeit. The ingredients of true masculinity are of the highest quality, simple and pure, that when properly crafted effuse a rich complexity that evinces the integrity of its make. It is a treasure to be celebrated.
Now, I have nothing against Boone’s Farm wine. I have enjoyed it before (which I can’t say for Dom Perignon) and it is delightful enough for what it is, inexpensive fruit flavored wine. They are quite tasty and entertaining as an entry level adult beverage, not unlike a wine cooler without the carbonation. They are a true wine product, though mostly apple or pear wines, and come in a variety of flavors. But those flavors are artificial. They come from additives to the wine and are not developed from the wine itself. It is artificially sweetened to enhance the fruitiness of the flavors. There is no complexity or sophistication to the product. It is mere alcoholic candy. If that is what you want and what you enjoy, so be it. But don’t dare purport Boone’s Farm wine to be the equal of Dom Perignon.
In my opinion, this is exactly what Str8Bro is doing. His brand of masculinity is shallow and pumped full of artificiality. For all his high-minded speak, his analysis and essays touch on chords of what is masculine, but lack the depth, sophistication, and integrity of true masculinity. Despite his PhD, his branding of masculinity is very sophomoric. He is stuck on the outer surface of masculinity, wading around in the shallows of it, dipping his head under the water and glimpsing the depths believing he has gone there, but he is firmly planted in and fascinated with the shallows. What I mean is that he fails to go beyond the physical aspects of masculinity, the outward expressions, the sights, the sounds, the smells, the sensations. He revels in the fleshly attributes and never escapes them in his analysis. Further, he celebrates artificiality in his branding of masculinity. In his most recent post, he discusses what he sees as a paradoxs in male relations, namely “intimacy and competition, friendship and aggression, affection and violence.” I’ll agree that intimacy, friendship, and affection are solid ingredients in male relationships, but competition, aggression, and violence are artificial additives that have been injected over the years and have unfortunately been attributed as staples of masculinity. These are by-products of pseudo-masculinity not true masculinity. They betray the core of true masculinity and are not a reflection of the high quality components that underpin genuine masculinity.

GUATIAO (gwa- TEE'-ow) is a Taino-Matouac word meaning Brother/ Lover/ Friend. Guatiaos are two (or more) males who love each other unconditionally, body, mind, and spirit.
GUIARQ is the emotional part of the Guatiao bond. It is the love and attraction that make two (or three) males choose to spend time with and weave with each other.
QUIBEY is the spiritual part of Guatiao that creates the energy that brings and keeps the two males together. It is beyond their control; it is the stuff their lives are guided by on a larger, external scale.
TEKGUAIRQ is the physical part of Guatiao. it is the affection, sensuality, and erotic weaving and sharing; it is how Guiarq and Quibey are externalized and expressed.
All three- Guiarq, Quibey, and Tekguiarq- are parts of the same whole, and are inseparable. They always occur together. You can't isolate or have one without the other two, as the three form a complete closed system. If one of the three is removed or denied, it will destroy the other two instantly. The balance and proportions are variable, and may change, but all three must always be present together, or none exist at all. Balanced Guiarq, Quibey, and Tekguiarq results in trust, respect, dignity, valor, and love*
This is true masculinity 101, pure and devoid of imperially injected artificiality, full bodied, born of simplicity yet rich with complexity, sophistication, and depth. Str8Bro’s celebration of hyper-masculinity is cheap wine stamped champagne. It is pseudo-masculinty. Don’t be fooled.
